Lessons from Guruvayoor – 2

I heard in one discourse about an elephant who used to get angry for not being given service of the Lord to him. But to read about him and to know the name of the fortunate elephant is indeed bringing great joy to my heart as I can now share it with others. Also I am very happy and astonished to know the story of his leaving his mortal body on Mokshada Ekadashi. I beg to the Supreme Lord make me also fortunate to leave in a way similar to Keshavan, although I know I am very unworthy candidate for such an exalted thing.

    Amazing devotional example from elephant.

His devotion is so exemplary to be learnt a lot from.

Every human should take a lesson from this animal in devotion and concern he has for all living beings seeing them as part and parcel of lord in not stepping on begger on street when he was angry

Very nice lesson. It is indeed a lesson for human beings that we have the most suitable body to serve The Supreme Personality OF Godhead and yet we are reluctant to do so.As Radhanath Swami says there are no material impediments if one has intense desire to serve The God,Krishna. The above statement should be kept in mind while serving The God,Krishna. Thanks so much for such nice information from Guruvayoor, the Holy Place.

This is an amazing example of devotion even by an elephant. If even animals with lot of limitations can render devotional service, then what is the problem for us humans. This incident of Keshavan aptly fits into the quote of HH Radhanath Swami “There are no material impediments to Bhakti Yoga”.

Radhanath Swami says very rightly that for devotional service there is no qualification. You can perform devotional service in any form of life though in human form of life, it’s very easy.

Bhakti Vinod Thakur said Bhakti is not a matter of change of dress but change of heart. One could be in a huge hefty and externally scary body like that of an elephant but deep within the heart one could be as light and soft like that of a freshly churned butter. Thank u for such a wonderful article. Keshavan Pr ki jai !

It is indeed very much inspiring. The elephant proved himself that no need to survive if he is not fit enough to serve Krsna. Life without service to Krsna ia not a real life. All glories to HH Radhanatha Svami Maharaja.

Thanks you fro sharing this heart touching incidents of elephant devotee of Lord Krishna.I had only heard about Gajendra from Shrimad bhagavatam who was a elephant but a devotee of ghe lord. Amazing story. It’s a lesson for all of us to learn about how we can serve the Lord irrespective of any circumstances. If an elephant can serve so dedicatedly with devotion, what reason do we human beings have not to serve the Lord, in spite of having so many facilities at our disposal?

  43. Y.Raja Shekar

HH Radhanath Swami’s journey home book reveals us how he had under went so many near death impediments on the path of bhakti and yet he continued in his pursuit of God. This proves when we are determined, no impediments can make us deviate from the path of bhakti.

Unbelievable story, this kind of story is only heard & seen in scriptures (e.g. Hanuman Ji, Gajendra) but after seeing this story any one will keep faith in those characters from scriptures, may be we should tell this story to those people who say scriptures are mythology so that their myth can go at least :). All glories to Keshavan and my big salute to him.
